Community Forum Overview

The Mind You Community Forum aims to be a safe and inclusive space for Mind You users to talk about their mental health journey, where they can communicate with our mental health experts as well as other users. It aims to be an effective avenue for thoughtful discourse, letting users get to know their mental health better and acting as a haven where they can share their stories, their struggles, and their strategies.

In order to meet the goals of our community, it’s essential for our members to feel like they are in a secure place that is populated by people with shared interests and a shared concern for each other. In light of this, we encourage you to read our FAQ, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy. We can’t wait to be a part of your journey toward becoming happier, healthier, and more productive!

Community Rules

  1. No posting of personal information. The Community Forum does not allow the sharing of personal information that may be used to identify you, which includes but is not limited to: links to social media accounts/groups (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Discord, Telegram, etc.), visual media that shows your face or information that can be used to identify you, and information such as your address or e-mail address. Doxxing other forum users (revealing their personal information) will result in you being permanently banned.

  2. Communicate with courtesy and respect. The Community Forum aims to be a space where users can freely engage with each other and exchange thoughtful discourse, but we ask you to communicate with others with courtesy and respect. Treat other users as you would treat them in real life, and it’s essential to remain tolerant and respectful of others’ viewpoints, even if you may disagree with them. The following behaviours are not acceptable and may result in moderators removing your post or comments:

  3. Hate speech and derogatory comments against users or groups

  4. Bickering and fighting

  5. Troll behaviour (deliberately provoking others into reacting negatively)

  6. Name-calling and personal insults

  7. Do not ask for a diagnosis. Fellow users are discouraged from diagnosing themselves or others with specific conditions. If you think you have a particular condition or are experiencing specific symptoms, we recommend that you book a consultation with a Mind You psychologist. The Community Forum is not a substitute for any kind of doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, or any other mental health professional.

  8. Advice about medication must be anecdotal. All discussions about prescribed medication and other pharmacological treatments should only be given as personal advice. We do not allow users to promote taking any kind of medication that was not prescribed to them by their mental health professionals. In addition, promoting self-treatment with illegal methods like drugs and other psychoactive substances is not allowed.

  9. No advertising is allowed. You may post your own creative work (written work, art, etc.) in the respective community topic channel, but advertising paid services such as personal coaching and commissions are not allowed in the Forum. Posts that involve self-promotion will be deleted by moderators and users will be issued a verbal warning.

  10. NSFW posts must be tagged as such. We do not allow the posting of NSFW material that describe sexual or violent acts in detail. General discussions about sex and libido will be allowed, but they must be appropriately tagged NSFW and posted in the appropriate channel. Untagged posts will be removed by moderators. Gore, bodily harm, violence, nudity, and pornography are NOT ALLOWED and posting such content will result in the deletion of your post and an immediate ban.

  11. This is not a place for politically-oriented rants. The Forum aims to be a safe space for people of all political affiliations. Material that talks about specific topics such as specific politicians and political parties are not allowed on the Forum. You may discuss your feelings, but name-dropping is not allowed.

  12. The Community Forum is not a substitute for a mental health hotline. If you are currently in a state of immediate distress or have thoughts of wanting to harm yourself or others, please don’t hesitate to contact our Mental Health Hotline, or you may refer here to a list of hospitals or care centres you can contact for immediate concerns.

  13. Forum moderators will have the final verdict on the rules. By joining this Community Forum, you agree to follow the rules stated above. Moderators will remove posts that are deemed to be in violation of the above guidelines, and have the right to issue written warnings to belligerent users of the Forum. Moderators also reserve the right to suspend and ban users from the Forum for breaking the rules.
